About

My name is Mike Garner

I write a blog about my life as a freelancer. It has content on language, marketing, social media and music. I write about music because I love it and I’m interested in its relationship with the way we work.

I’ve been working in translation and writing for more than 10 years (well, 13 to be exact). I’ve covered a lot in that time. I’ve worked for major corporates like Orange, France Telecom and Michelin and small start ups, too many to mention.

I worked in travel and business information before that, I was a dogsbody in a market research company and I had paper rounds and milk rounds in the 1970s. I lived in France for 20 years and went native. I gained a love for French cinema , steak tartare and the Breton coastline from the experience.

I’m originally a London boy, but through a long sequence of circumstances I came to rest in Somerset.

I plan to move on again next next, even further west, to Devon.

I have a unhealthy interest in seventeenth-century millenarians, experimental and leftfield music

I watch old episodes of Star Trek Voyager, Deep Space Nine and now Enterprise (not as good) on my iPhone in bed at night.

I make a mean onion tart (that used to surprise the French!).

I’ve also got a degree in History and French.

Does that sound good? Fancy a chat? Get in contact.
